Jason Miller’s furniture for De La Espada is inspired by the housing trend currently prevalent in Brooklyn, where 100-year-old brownstones, originally built as single family homes then converted into apartment buildings, are being converted back into single family homes. Many of these buildings still retain original details such as ornate fireplaces, moldings and woodwork, but are in need of renovations, creating an interesting juxtaposition of old and new design. Jason Miller’s product line captures this juxtaposition of time, purpose, and aesthetics.

De La Espada is a groundbreaking design management firm and leading modern woodworker with a dedicated factory in Portugal. Highly skilled craftspeople combine noble materials, traditional joinery, handcraft and advanced technology to realize each design to the highest standard. Jason Miller is an acclaimed American industrial designer based in Brooklyn, New York, where he runs both Jason Miller Studio and high-end contemporary lighting brand Roll & Hill. Miller creates lighting, furniture, accessories and interiors inspired by contemporary American culture, elevating the everyday through rich materials and reimagined forms. Born in New York and raised in Darien, Connecticut, Jason’s suburban upbringing heavily influenced his early, more conceptual pieces, and continues to inform the elegant, historically rich work that has become his signature.

Jason Miller’s product line harnesses De La Espada’s woodworking expertise, for intricately detailed furniture that transcends time, in forms that capture the sumptuous qualities of a traditional American aesthetic in a more modern design language. Available in American black walnut, American white oak, or European Ash in a range of finishes; with painted HDF, mirror-polished or matte, in colours black RAL 9005, white RAL 9016, bone NCS S1005-Y20R, bordeaux NCS S6030-R10B, or ochre NCS S 4040-Y20R. Legs and drawer pulls in brass.
